Welcome to the Lincoln Fish n’ Kids Fishing Derby Website. We are proud to announce the "Fish n’ Kids" Fishing Derby to be held at the Big M Fishery Ponds, 280 Westland Road in Lincoln, Monday, September 5, 2011. The Derby is a "FREE" event for Lincoln community youth. Fishing enthusiasts and novices ages 7 to 12 living in the Lincoln (95648 Zip Code Only) area are invited to converge upon Big M Fishery’s Ponds for the event.

Originally conceived by the KIWANIS Club of Lincoln, the Lincoln Fish n’ Kids Fishing Derby is a cooperative effort of the Lincoln KIWANIS, Lincoln Police Activities League (PAL), Lincoln Hills Fishing Group (LHFG), and Big M Fishery organizations.

The purpose of this event is to provide an annual community service effort that presents an opportunity for the youth of Lincoln to experience a fun outdoor adventure. This event enables children to enjoy fishing together in a safe environment as they learn the catch-and-release fishing concept. As has been reported in the Sacramento Bee last year, "These sorts of outdoor adventures are becoming increasingly challenging for children because of urbanization, and because kids are more plugged into indoor technology.....say child advocates who are rallying for a national movement to get kids outdoors again."

Our Derby provides everything that the kids need to enjoy this experience..........YOU AND YOUR KID’S DON’T HAVE TO BRING A THING, JUST THE DESIRE TO HAVE FUN! We provide all of the registered kid’s free use of the Derby’s fishing equipment, a Commemorative T-Shirt, an Official Derby Fishing Achievement Certificate, a Keepsake Photo of their Catch, and a Free Lunch. All kids MUST be accompanied by at least one parent for supervision (the Derby Steering Committee believes that it is very important that the children enjoy the fishing experience with a parent), while Derby Volunteer Fishing Mentors will demonstrate and assist the kids throughout the event. .

Though the Derby is only open to Lincoln kids, ages 7 to 12, only the first 125 Pre-Registered applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
